I live in Queens, NY I love it here, one of the things I don't like is the NYC Dept. of Sanitation. Plain and simple they suck, we had 2 inches of snow and ice and they didn't even plow one road besides the LIE for 2 days. Garbage day was on Wednesday, I put out my cans and they never picked it up, Garbage day came again on Saturday, still no pick up, now the whole area has trash piled up all over the curbs. Come on what are these guys doing, the snow has been over for days, 2 missed pick ups, 2 days late to plow, where the hell are they? But hey if you have litter caught in your fence between the hours of 11 am and 4 pm they will write you a 100 dollar ticket for having a messy yard, well I want to write those Bastards a ticket for every god damn day they don't pick up my trash, but if i said that to them, Id be a crazy person. The biggest city on the eastern seaboard and the incompetent idiots cant even put a plastic bag in a truck on time, I say whoever is in charge should be thrown in the back of the truck, at least then something would be getting done.

We have 6000 miles of streets to plow everytime it snows. Then after we plow the streets we have to clean the the cross walks, bus stops and fire hydrant. By the time we get to those they are all ice covered so we have to chip the ice away by hand with shovels. Then all the big mountains of snow have to be picked up put in to dump trucks and hauled to the ice melting machine to be melted. Then after doing that for 12 or 13 hours shifts everyday with no days off (2 shifts a day) then we have go out and pick up the thrash that is covered with snow and ice and now weights 3 times as much. Oh let not forget the mountain of snow and ice we have to drag your heavy ass thrash over to put it in the truck. So now you know what we are doing.
yes people have no clue what's really involved .they just talk & complain to be heard. If all the complainers ever really knew the job& whats involved . I believe there would be an understanding & less complaining .people in this city don't pay for any garbage pick up or snow removal. Yet trash is picked up usually twice daily some areas 3 times & recycling weekly.in other cities 1 trash pickup weekly & recycling pick up bi- weekly & these people pay$$$$$$$. And their service is no better than ours .not even close. And I will also assume everyone who complains is PERFECT at doing their own jobs too.PLEASE give it a rest. Oh yeah first order of business is main roads & highways .So police fire & ambulances can get around in case of emergencies. Not sides of highways unless considered a MAIN street..Have a nice day
